The FDA Finally Admitted That Factory-Farmed Chicken Meat Contains Cancer-Causing Arsenic

Why is alarming to find arsenic in chicken? Well, to know that let’s get to understand what is arsenic and what it does.

Arsenic is a chemical element that occurs in minerals in conjunction with sulfur and metals. It usually comes in steel grey and is very brittle. It begins to tarnish when exposed to air and becomes poisonous while gives a strong smell of garlic when heated.

Though it is clearly understood that it can be very harmful if consumed in large quantities over a period of time, yet some manage to go beyond malpractices in order to earn money.
The FDA (The Food and Drug Administration of the United States) has now come to conclusion and agreed that factory-farmed chicken meat sold in the USA contains arsenic which is not only poisonous but can also cause cancer.
What happens to the arsenic fed to the chicken?
The FDA’s research on this matter shows that when arsenical drugs are fed to the chicken, trace amount of the element are excreted in their manure and it accumulates quickly there by contaminating the soil and underground water year after year. Whereas, before this study, the poultry industry denied all facts about arsenic and any traces found in the meat.
Also the remaining arsenic is passed on to humans in form of meat. And is consumed every day. This has been going on for past 60 years in the United States.
This became a standard and according to industry standard nine billion chickens are raised every year, out of which roxarsone – an arsenic based drug (subsidiary of Pfizer) was fed to almost 88 percent of chicken raised for human consumption in US.  Although the drug was pulled from the shelves in 2011 in US but it wasn’t banned and was allowed to be sold in other countries.
The fact remains
“Scott Brown of Pfizer Animal Health’s Veterinary Medicine Research and Development division commented on the same and agreed that the company also sells the ingredient in about a dozen other countries but is now reaching out to their regulatory authorities and will decide whether to sell it on an individual basis.”
Do you still feel like eating chicken meat? Or should we still believe the giants like Pfizer and other pharma companies blindly?
