Full List of Illegal Cancer-Causing Shampoos! Is Your Shampoo on the List?! You may think that the worst thing your shampoo could do is to harm your eyes, but it in fact your shampoo could be very deadly.
The Center for Environmental Health based in Oakland, California, had a study on soaps and shampoos and found that 98 of them have a possible carcinogen known as cocamide diethanolamine (cocamide DEA).
Products tested with high levels of cocamide DEA include shampoos made by Paul Mitchell , Colgate, Colomer, Palmolive, and many others. Plus, products advertised for children and a product deceitfully labeled as organic found that have the deadly chemical, in violation of California law.

In addition to many brand shampoos and other personal care products (see the full list, below), the CEH testing found cocamide DEA in store-brand products purchased at Pharmaca , Trader Joe’s , Walmart, and Kohl’s. In a brand children’s bubble bath from Kmart and a children’s conditioner/shampoo from Babies R Us was also found that have cocamide DEA. Wrongly labeled organic products from Organic by Africa’s Best also was tested and researches found that they contain high levels of the cancer-causing chemical (CEH previously won a legal agreement with this company requiring it to end its use of organic labels).
“Most people believe that products sold in major stores are tested for safety, but consumers need to know that they could be doused with a cancer-causing chemical every time they shower or shampoo,” said Michael Green, executive director of CEH.“We expect companies to take swift action to end this unnecessary risk to our children’s and families’ health.”
